The Sugar Palm Tree

When I walked by
The Sugar Palm Tree,
I heard a voice calling down to me-
I look way up and what did I see?
I saw my sweetheart calling down to me!
She said, "Come up in the Sugar Palm Tree,
I've got something I want you to see,"
So I climbed right up that Sugar Palm Tree
And tasted the juice of the Sugar Palm Tree!
Ah, me, what a Tree!
I found out how sweet my life could be
Mama and me, up in the tree,
We shook the branches of the SugarPalm Tree
And we started our family in thesugar Palm Tree!
We made a baby in the Sugar Palm Tree!
Our baby grew up, as sweet as can be,
She said, "Daddy, tell me secret of the Sugar Palm Tree!
Tell me how you and Mama made me,
By shakin' the brandhes of the Sugar Palm Tree!
Ah, me, what a Tree!
We shook the branches in the Sugar Palm Tree,
Mama and me, shakin' the Tree,
We started our family in the Sugar Palm Tree!
We made a baby in the Sugar Palm Tree!
I saw our Baby climbin' up the Tree,
Calling to her boyfriend, as sweet as can be,
I'll let you taste the juice of my tree,
If you come up and promise to marry me!
Now its Baby and her husband and Mama and Me,
Livin' in a house made out of a tree,
They made us grandchildren, one, two, three,
Shakin' the branches in the Sugar Palm Tree!
Now I am too old to climb the tree,
But I have my grandchildren on my knee,
And Mama slowly stirs the juice of the tree,
Makin' sugar cookies for the babies and me!
Makin' sugar cookies for the baboes and me!
Now if you ever walk by a Sugar Palm Tree,
You gotta listen very very carefully
If you hear a voice calling "Come up to me!",
You better get yourself up that Sugar Palm Tree!
Ah me, what a Tree!
You'll find out how swett your life can be
You and you sweetheart up in the tree,
You might start your family in The Sugar Palm Tree!
Up in the Tree just like Mama and me,
You might start your family in the Sugar Palm Tree!
You might make a little baby in the Sugar Palm Tree!
